Elton’s poem

lee elton 10-13-15

puppy breath, a few puddles on the floor we called “accidents”

those bright white pointy little teeth

“no biting Elton” we’d say to you with a giggle

you made us smile

we could watch you for hours

we had so many cute nicknames for you

you gnawed on us, the new rug, and our friends’ shoes

we loved you through it all

those warm marble eyes…

you were the most sincere pumpkin in the pumpkin patch

and now all we have are sweet memories of our time together

the stars were aligned when you came into our world

now we gaze upon those stars twinkling in the night sky

and with tear-filled eyes & gratitude we say

thank you ♥
